| COSI brings the farm to the city for the seventh year in a row, as Farm Days: Little Seeds, Big Tractors opens August 17 - 21, 2011! During this event, more than a dozen pieces of huge farming equipment - including a combine, a track drive tractor, antique tractors and more - will be arranged downtown on COSI’s English Plaza and Washington Boulevard. |
Visitors can climb into the cabs of tractors, a combine, and more. Kids can test their driving skills on a pedal tractor obstacle course, try a cow milking simulation, and make a seed necklace to take home.
The heart of Farm Days is COSI's "Path of a Farmer" game. Visitors get a game card and try their hand at the business of farming. They can take out a loan, buy crops and livestock, and then spin a wheel to see how the weather and market affect their farm profit (or loss!). Throughout the game, activities at each station—such as testing the pH of soil—help visitors understand the skills and knowledge needed to farm and the many resources and partners that farmers have.
Video stations will highlight the stories of local farmers who raise everything from sheep to soybeans. Get a brief look at the operations on a real farm and the people who work it.
Visitors can also collect a set of five free Farm Days trading cards while supplies last. Each card represents equipment, crops, and more that an Ohio farmer would use.
